I know I should never have cut off the straps, but it was a moment of passion...Passionate about hating taking apart the high chairs to clean them and not getting it back right. Kate and Addy taunt me daily:)
Maybe I'll just get a soft landing mat for underneath to avoid any head injuries.

I understand!!!!! My solution is to not really clean the high chair all that well....you get a nice little collection of scraps that I count as part of my food storage.
My mom used to tie a long dish towel around the child and the back of the chair to keep the munchkins in. An old scarf might work too.
