Freak Me Out Now...

The other day I went in to check on the twins during their nap and the cribs were empty. I looked around the room and couldn't see them anywhere.  So I checked my room, other kid's rooms, closets in my room, outside front and back and even in the living room.  I was starting to get a bit panicked when I decided to check their room again and noticed that the closet door was closed but sticking out somewhat.  I opened it slightly and Kate's head popped out.

They were SOUND asleep in the closet with their blankets.  I have no idea why or how, but of course I had to grab the camera first!

Addy was sleeping, folded in half.  I pulled Kate out and put her in bed and she went back to sleep. I left Addison in there with the door opened and she had another good solid hour of sleep as well. Whatever works, I guess!

Adventures in Berkeley

The second big outing of our Lincoln Summer Fun group included a trip to Berkeley's Adventure Playground.  Kids hammer, saw and paint their own creations to add on or take away from the play structures built.  The twins enjoyed (or Mommy enjoyed!) staying behind at Nana's house while I took the older three.
Almost 30 kids! Listening to the instructions.

 Bailey, ready to go in

Emma, so serious... And she is wearing shoes and socks, a great accomplishment!  Although she did have them off the entire time we played at the regular playground outside the adventure one.  This girl cannot handle shoes and socks at all.
 Nathan engrossed in a stick
In order to "earn" their tools, the kids had to find either pieces of trash, wood or dangerous boards with nails in them and turn them in.  They could have one thing out at a time to work on.  Nathan had paint most of the time.
Bailey on top of the large fort in the back the older boys were working on.
This play ground had lots of fun structures for the kids to play on, including swings and climbing areas.  They even had a sprinkler area.  So after getting dusty and dirty, the kids could turn it into mud all over them:)
Nathan painting the table top that he and Emma made (well I hammered the nails)

The kids had a fun time.  I'm not sure it was my favorite activity so far, especially for the distance and that you have to pay to be in a group, but can go in free if you are by yourself.  But the kids liked it and it was something new and different.  We always like hanging out with our Lincoln group friends!

Uh, Say Whaaaat?

Welcome to the fun sayings of the Oram Kids blog post...  Today, the laughter will be brought to you by Nathan, Bailey and Emma.

We'll start from least offensive to most (you will have to read until the end to see why!)

Emma: (moping in her bed) I have nothing to do
Mom: Why?
Emma: 'cause
Repeat same discussion only with different suggestions by mom, and even more moping from Emma.
Mom: Can you say anything besides 'cause?!
Emma: Yes... BE-cause!

Mom and 5 kids in van, listening to radio.  On comes Katy Perry "Teenage Dream"
Bailey: (after thoughtfully listening to the song) Mom? That song doesn't make sense.
Mom: (immediately thinking of the skintight jeans or turn you on phrases and thinking maybe we should skip Katy Perry) uh...what doesn't?
Bailey: Well, she says they are going to be young forever, right?
Mom: Yeeessss.
Bailey: But they are going to dance until they die?!
Mom: yeah.
Bailey: (laughs) So they are going to be 16 years old forever, always dancing and getting tired because they aren't going to ever die! HAHAHAHAHHAAHAHA!!!!
Note: He did not think he was making a joke, but was more amused that he had bested the songwriter on their dumb lyrics!

Now on to Nathan (is this a surprise that his might be offensive?!)
Driving in the car on the way to the dentist...Emma and Nathan are nicely playing with toy robots and Barbie dolls, having a conversation.

Emma: Hi, Mr. robot, How are you?
Nathan: Check out my new PEEENISSSSS! Ah hahahahahahah!

Commence laughing from everyone in the car.

Emma: Mom, make Nathan stop saying penis!
Mom: Why?
Emma: Because it is gross!

Nathan: But he has a cool penis!

Mom: Oh my goodness, Nathan....

The End. No pictures necessary (or desired!)

Clementine Lake

I almost forgot to take pictures of the first day of our Summer funfest.  Thankfully I remembered as posts are way boring without pictures.  We went out to Clementine Lake today, which was a fun sort of hidden spot.  We had the entire beach to ourselves most of the time.  This was our first big event with the Lincoln wards getting together to do activities.  I ended up sort of in charge so I'm glad everything went well and we had fun.

Of course Bailey was thrilled to have so many boys his age there.  A few were from his school so he knew them already.  The boys all had fun digging and splashing and doing I guess boy stuff.

Nathan just ran around like a maniac. But what else is new with Nathan?  He surprised me and not only had no potty accidents but even went in the port-o-potty.  Now, these were unusually clean and spacious ones, but nonetheless...  The park and rec provides these life vests all the kids have to wear if they go in the water.  There is a current and the water is especially cold from snow run off.
The girls loved the sand area. Addison stripped down to her diaper at some point, but again no surprise there.  She and Kate spent hours digging and pouring water and digging again.  Addison took her usual time to get used to the area, but once she was those two little girls were golden for a lake day.

One more picture of Bailey-- Emma was running around too much to get a good picture.

We came home dusty and sandy and exhausted (they are all showered and watching movies now on the couch).  But it was well worth it and we are looking forward to more adventures!

Saturday is s Special Day

So yesterday was awesome and needs to be preserved in the Oram family book:)  Why? Because we had NOTHING to do...This translated to me getting almost three hours of uninterrupted...CLEANING! OK, weird to desire that but it was amazing to go from room to room scrubbing and cleaning with no one wanting me to wipe their butt or clinging to my leg!  Ben kept all the kids outside in the garage (while he tinkered...so an awesome day for him as well) and I mopped floors, scrubbed bathrooms and dusted.  It was beautiful:)
And I even got a random rebate check in the mail for 10 dollars so we ate Panda for lunch.  I love having a drive through Panda Express because you don't even have to be showered to get some broccoli beef and rice.
On top of that I finished reading an entire book that I started Friday afternoon. I don't get the chance to read as much anymore and I used to love it.  The kids played out side to their hearts content, and we finished the evening off watching Gnomeo and Juliette.
And just so this post isn't entirely too boring, the latest all seven of us picture courtesy of my cousin at my brother's wedding.

Summer is finally here

And we have always loved hanging out in the driveway in the in between afternoon/evening until Ben gets home from work.

 Oh little Eyore...

Emma decided to go for a ride on the wild side

This is her "I loved it!" happy dance.

Kate did NOT love it.

Of things to come...

We've had a busy past few weeks, and I have few pictures to show from it.  But this summer is supposed to be very action packed (in a mellow kick back sort of way...)  So I will have to remember to take more pictures and document.

The twins new chosen sleeping arrangement for naps...

This particular day, Kate's crib was chosen for the sleepover.  Usually they are both in Addy's.  It was a big risk to take this picture as I had to use the flash and was afraid they might wake up.  But they were SOUND asleep.

Bailey is at Twilight Camp for Cub Scouts this entire week and even got a bulls eye in archery!

My little brother Curtis got married this last weekend!  We had a great time and are looking forward to all the pictures to come.  The photographer was in love with Nathan and he kept charming her out of her Iphone so he could play Angry Birds. It's the dimples and matter of fact speech that gets them every time!
